Comments on: 300 new call centre jobs in Leeds
I worked for Ventura British Gas at Leeds Valley Park, and was surprised and dismayed at the culture of endemic low-level corporate bullying that existed there. Shame on you Ventura!

My son has applied three times for jobs at both Leeds and Stourton and they have never acknowledged his application or returned his or my calls. It’s not possible to speak to the HR section because it goes onto voicemail, yet there are vacancies which are still being posted.
How unprofessional and what a shambles.

My daughter who has just completed her Masters degree programe at the University of Leeds applied for a job with Ventura.
After successfully scaling through the selection process, she has been offered a part time job and currently undergoing an induction programe.
I think people should be objective in their assessment of corporate bodies.
When your son, daughter or whoever applies for a job and does not get it, there must be a reason.
Also, every organisation its rules and regulations. People should learn to comply and avoid insinuations of favoratism, racism and what have you.
Kudos to you Ventura,

I worked for Ventura for 3 years and there certainly was a level of corporate bullying, mainly from young ambitious management staff who were interested in self promotion rather than staff development. The level of service that is given to the customer has well known for being poor, being one of the people that worked there, I can confirm the quality is dire, mainly because they don’t weed out the idiots at interview.

I work for Ventura as a Quality Analyst, and can tell you quality is not poor. Ventura has won numerous awards for world class customer service, and is one of the few call centres in the UK to be awarded the global CCA standard. As with all call centres some staff are poor (it is to be expected with the numbers employed) though ths is usually down to their own motivation rather than a lack of training or support. Rest assured sub standard staff are managed out.

I worked for ventura I must say it was a horrible experience there is alot of favouritism within the teamleaders and certain advisors. The teamleaders are getting paid for having a laugh and swinging on their chairs and of course chatting up the young ladies!!!. The message left preiviously I would like to re-phase that getting a job with ventura is a walk in the PARK you will have an interview one day and start work the following day how professional is that!! Atleast they give you a job which is the positive side to them. But and a big but you will get SICK of call after CALL repeating yourself and having a grumpy/ moody teamleader listerning to your calls and picking at all the nitty things. The teamleaders just act as though they know it all and in actual fact the advisors sat on their chair for 8hours of the day know far more about the systems how to deal with queries much much better. AS for the work collegues yes you do get to meet a variety I mean to say a bunch of young students all dressing and looking the same as for the girls well well seems they get ready at 5am to start work for 1pm. A call centre is a call centre if you drop a pin the whole building will shake alot of gossip and yes bulling does occur its true flirty teamleaders and some assume its their fathers business (going by the books treating you like a big kid. I say they need to get a life and get rid of the gas inside them

I worked at Ventura for nearly 4 years before being made redundant. Anybody that says there is no Bullying at Ventura has not worked there. They promote Kids to management positions, these kids have no experience but Ventura allow there team leaders(Kids) to make the decisions as to who is promoted or not and invariably it is who has crept around the Team Leaders/ Operations Managers the best.

I applied in ventura not long a go and I had interview with this guy who did not have a clue about the company him self and I was telling him so much new stuff to learn. Any way I have 3 years customer service experience in a call centre customer service and I hav recently graduated from the uni and they refused me to give me a job there for whatever stupid reason. For some one to have a degree and have three years experince in a call centre and still refusing to give me job. Thats not on at all.I am waiting for 12 more weeks and then I am going to apply in that comapny again and if i get refused again then I am going to take this matter further for shure.

I passed the phone interview with ventura untill the final face to face interview which i failed due to the following reason:
At the final stage of the interview the guy asked if i had any questions to ask to which i asked three questions
1.What are the prospects of improvements with the job?
2.what is the dress code?
3.if at all i get employed how soon do i start?
He said i sounded so desperate for the job!

I applied for ventura a few months ago along with few of my friends. Since half my class works there already we felt it was the place to be. All of us masters students with no experience in call centre jobs. 2 of my friends got calls back for interviews but I was held back because they said I alone required 3 months experience working in a call centre, even though i have a years experience in sales and customer service. Also their webite boasts about giving jobs on the basis of personality not experience was the main reason we applied there and yet I could not understand why I was the only one being separated. I finally gave up even though I felt cheated n separated for no fair reason.
I received a call a few days ago from them which caught me by surprise, it was a phone interview which i passed but the lady could not book a face-to-face interview date because some of my documents were not handy. I was asked to call back once I had those. When I did call back, another lady said the previous interview didn’t matter, they can’t give me a job because even though the previous caller thought i was eligible since she did not know that I was told to get more experience it cannot be done. Meanwhile I constantly here inexperienced kids getting jobs there.
I am not saying I am perfect for the job but atleast don’t deny me an interview on unfair grounds.

I completely agree with all the previous comments in regards to bullying within all departments of Ventura, i have worked for the company for 4 years and have come accross several cases every year.. its a regular occurance…….. especially from managers towards the agents. The place is full of favouritism , racism and sexist Management.
