Colleagues from the Tesco Customer Service Centres based in both Cardiff and Dundee are gearing up for a challenge that will connect the sites.

14 Tesco colleagues from both centres will cycle from Cardiff to Dundee, covering 500 miles in just 5 days.  The riders will set off on 20th June and will aim to ride for a gruelling 7 hours a day to raise money for the Tesco Charity Partner Diabetes UK.

Anthony Perry, a rider from Cardiff, said; “I try to complete a charity challenge every year, but compared to half marathons or three peak challenges, this is going to be the most difficult yet. The obvious focus and incentive is to raise as much as possible for the charity of the year which is going to be great.”

To raise money and get in some on-the-job training, both centres recently arranged a charity event where they urged their colleagues to jump on an exercise bike with a target of covering 500 miles collectively. They also ran competitions for the fastest time and most distance covered and managed to raise over £800 for charity.

Dundee head of business planning Jamie Hughes said, “It looks like fourteen of us will cycle the route,  but in the wider picture many, many more will get involved in the fundraising and organising the event. My hope was also that it would act as a challenging goal for people to get involved in, and something that everyone involved can feel proud of having achieved together.”

Riders from both centres have been fundraising and gaining sponsorship, with their total displayed on the Tesco CSC Cardiff to Dundee Cycle Just Giving page.
