An agent at a contact centre in Sunderland has had his head shaved to help raise money for Marie Curie.

Dave Goodall, a Customer Service Advisor at EDF Energy, volunteered to have his head shaved, with colleagues making donations to take turns in giving him a haircut.

The shave took place as part of the contact centre’s Blooming Great Tea Party charity event, which included an afternoon tea party and a bake sale.

Staff donated over £3,500 at the fundraising event, which is the latest in a series of special events to be held in support of Marie Curie.

“I wanted to do something to help raise money for Marie Curie, something with impact and which identified with the cause so, after much deliberation, I decided to have my head shaved by my colleagues for the Blooming Great Tea Party,” said Dave.

“We’re really thankful to EDF Energy for supporting the charity,” said Fabian French, Director of Fundraising at Marie Curie. “Every pound we receive helps us to make a valuable difference to patients and their families at the time when they most need support.”
