A contact centre in Northern Ireland has improved employee productivity and well-being by starting a choir.

Firstsource Solutions in Derry/Londonderry has launched a new choir for its employees with a little help from local songbird and ‘The Voice’ contestant Rachael O’Connor.

The ‘Inspire Choir’ is open to all employees, and aims to improve personal development, well-being and operational performance in the workplace.

Although the choir is relatively new, it has already attracted around 100 people to come along and have fun.

“Our people are the most important asset to our business, so we welcome initiatives that encourage positive health and well-being. These programmes all work within our business to create productivity on the centre floor and deliver strong results for our clients,” said Laura Hourican, GM and HR, UK & Ireland. “The choir was introduced through our partnership with Sing & Inspire (part of the inspireMe Group) to help improve overall customer experience, quality, reduce attrition levels and engage with employees. We are really delighted with the response to date and it is refreshing to see employees bring plenty of positivity and energy to their working day.”

Thanks to the choir, the talented choristers have improved their communication skills with colleagues and customers alike, while also making a positive change to their own health and well-being.

“We’re loving working with the Northern Ireland sites and really excited for the future of the Derry/Londonderry Inspire choir, which has got off to a fantastic start,” said Andrea Callanan, founder of the inspireMe Group. “It’s amazing that we can provide hard-line measurable results with our engagement workplace Inspire choirs and we love the transformational impact we’re having on both the people and teams.”
