Brighton Call Centre HR Manager turns into Superhero

“Batgirl saves the world”. Not the headlines from Gotham City but Superhero Batgirl, better known as Domestic & General Inkfish Contact Centre’s HR Manager, Nicki Jezzard.
Nicki inspired her colleagues to help save the world to the tune of over £1,000 (and get fit) by competing in the Brighton Heroes’ Run on 17th May in aid of ‘Passingiton’.
Because “Passingiton” is a Brighton-based charity, the team was even more pleased. As Nicki says: “The work they’re doing in funding education projects in Africa is fantastic and we all wanted to support our very own local charity – our target was £1,000 and we’re well over that figure – with more to come, which is fantastic!” And, as Nicki also has a passion for fitness and well-being in the workplace, the Heroes’ Run was just the way she could inspire the team to get fitter faster – making the race a double winner.
Following an enormously successful ‘Get Fit in February’ campaign, with lectures on healthy eating, and fitness trainers arriving, Nicki has planted the fitness bug in the team. It not only tempted them to run on 17th May but a competitive streak meant that everyone had instigated a rigorous training schedule ahead of the day.
Apart from Batgirl herself, rumours were flying as to which Domestic & General Superheroes would appear on the start line. Princess Leah, SuperGran, Bananaman, the Hulk and, even, it was whispered, Nelson Mandela were among the names tipped for the race. On the day, Batgirl was joined by Batman, two Robins, a washing machine, Mr Incredible, Aphrodite, the Hulk, Xena Warrior Princess, a female Hulk and many more modern superheroes!
The Brighton team also held its own Superheroes Day on Friday 9th May as a curtain raiser to the race. “Everyone was encouraged to come dressed as their hero and if they didn’t, they were charged a pound to be given to Passingiton,” says Nicki.
