Contact Centre Charity Ball raises £19,000 for Alzheimer’s

A 1940s themed event hosted by Tesco contact centre staff has raised more than £19,000 for Alzheimer’s charities.
More than 200 guests attended the 14th Annual Tesco Charity Ball at the Apex Hotel, including a host of local businesses, representatives from Alzheimer Scotland and Tesco suppliers, along with staff and Charity Team volunteers from the Dundee-based centre.
Top prizes including a luxury hotel stay in Spain and a round of golf at the prestigious Archerfield Direlton Links course were auctioned on the night, with all proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland. Guests were also treated to a lavish dinner and live entertainment from local bands, The Committee and Eat the Peach.
The vintage theme for the evening was based around research from the charities, which encourages friends and families of sufferers to share memories by looking at photographs and souvenirs together to help jog their memory, which can help them retain a sense of who they are.
Denise Elder, a member of the Charity Team at Tesco for more than 11 years, said: “We’re delighted to have hosted such a successful evening at the Apex Hotel, which raised such a huge sum for our charity of the year.
“We’d like to say thank you to everyone who supported the night and generously contributed to such a great cause. And a big thank you to the Charity Team and Alzheimer Scotland who worked tirelessly over a number of months to organise this.”
