Contact centre staff learn how to save energy and money
Staff at outsourcing contact centre Conduit in Cardiff benefited from an information day at their offices with the help of the Energy Saving Trust.
Experts from the Energy Saving Trust teamed up with Conduit to provide free and impartial advice to staff on saving energy and money in the home.
The company discovered how making simple, cost-effective changes in the home – such as installing loft or cavity wall insulation – can make a big difference to the climate and fuel bills.
The Energy Saving Trust team advised on the different types of energy-saving home improvements available, such as floor, tank and pipe insulation, as well as draft proofing.
Staff at Conduit were also provided with details of home insulation grants and offers available in their area. In south Wales, cavity wall insulation could cost as little as £99 with potential savings far outweighing that.
Esther Tallent, centre manager at the Energy Saving Trust’s Advice Centre Wales, said:
“Our employee engagement scheme aims to support and encourage employees to stop wasting energy and start saving money.
“We hope that the money-saving logic and good habits at home soon transfer to the workplace. This means that employers who engage their staff with energy-saving advice reap the benefits by the reduced running costs that follow.”
Denis Creighton, Conduit’s European CEO, said:
“It’s pleasing to see so many of our staff making the effort to be a little greener. We have 2,500 members of staff in total, so if each of them adopted some of these measures we could make a big collective difference to the environment and save ourselves some money too.”
