24 hour shift rota

Hi,

I am looking at compiling a 24hr weekly shift rota and wondered if antbody had a sucessful rota in place?

My requirements are:

1. No more that 5 working days in one go
2. The night staff requirement is 2 staff only
3. The night shift is from 23:00 to 07:00 (until 08:00 on Sat&Sun mornings)
4. Any twilight shift is from 19:00 to 23:00
5. Any day shift could be worked.
6. I have no staff numbers as yet as I want to see the type of rotas that can be implemented

Do you have any suggestions?

I'm not sure that I have a complete answer for you, but it may be that brining in flexible shifts may work. This is where you ask people what shift they would prefer to work and for how many hours. They then have to stick with that shift for at least 6 months and it has to include one or two antisocial shifts per month (typically Friday and Saturday evenings).

You then recruit new people to fill in the gaps.
