Advantages of cloud solutions? Low initial investment, scalable, on-demand pricing, global reach. Dis-advantages: connectivity can be an issue, resilience, DR, integration, security, ability to tailor to your requirements.
Saleforce.com is the market leader and showing increasing potential through the addition of new applications and functionality. RightNow has been better for us where more complex functionality is needed. Hope this helps.

I agree with ComptonScotty mostly..
Investing in cloud technology for the call centre is a huge asset and cost- saver.
While connectivity may be an issue- for the leaders there really isn't an issue there with downtime. As for integration- as a cloud based option, it only needs an online portal, it can sit separately to your existing systems or easily coded to integrate into what you have with no conflicts.
As for security, they're safer than a non-cloud software provider as they have to inbuild data security processes into everything and some can offer PCI DSS compliance for card data!
