OK,

As some of you *may* know. I used to be a chef for a living...

Including, I'm proud to say, 6 weeks whilst in the final year on
'placement' to a rather 'nice' place in Oxfordshire!

So..

Any disasters in the kitchen you want to get off you chest?

Or anything you'd like to know?

My starter......

Filling a deep fat fryer I'd just cleaned with fresh warm oil.

With the drain still open!

In a close second place was 10l of
fresh Mayonnaise going over the floor, and the walls,
and the ceiling......

Open to you!

Superb bits of kit.

You just need to remember *how* hot they get!

One anxious work moment I had was about 20 years ago when calls costs were quite high. I had just joined a new company and they had a phone system with a new system where you could do conference calls.

I phoned the speaking clock in Cardiff and then phoned the speaking clock in London. They were both at different volumes. Then I conferenced them together. By this stage I was getting a bit bored so I just hung up.

A bit later that weekend I remembered that I had not cleared down the two talking clocks. And it was also apparent that they would not hang up themselves.

I sweated about it for a few days that I would be running up a huge phone bill. Not great when you have just joined a company.

I came clean on Monday morning and told the IT manager what I had done. I was much relieved when told me that the call would have cleared when I hung up. Luckily my boss never got to hear about it.
