hi all

I intend to set up a home based call centre to operate mainly outbound calls, although when researching how you to go about this there is not much help at all.

can anyone give me any advice on the types of equipment, software, broadband connections etc you need to set up a home based call centre.

any advice would be greatly appreciated

Are you looking to set up a home based call centre as part of an existing operation or as a new venture as an outsourcer?

Thomas,

How many people are you planing to start with in the contact centre, also will you be taking payments over the phone, and would you need to record the calls.

Thomas,

For a home based call center, definitely hosted is the way to go ! You agents might even be distributed over geographical locations. As far as what you need, if you are doing outbound calling in US:

1. A PC, minimum 1 GB RAM, some free hard disk space.
2. A good headset, preferably USB
3. On a good codec you need about 50kbps per call, upload and download, on a safe side a good 1 Mbps + connection would give you good call quality.

That's it, that's all you need !! :)

I can propose a few solutions if you are interested.

Just got 5 home based agents up and running on a campaign yesterday, health insurance agents doing outbound sales. They had so far being manually dialing using excel sheets. Pretty cost effective, got them up in like half a day!!
