What is the current trend for management techniques?
Are we 'army sergeants' or 'soft touches' or 'manipulators'?
Things always seem to go in trends and I wondered if there was a general one now. Having previously worked for a nutty american who used to thump us if we did not move quickly enough, I am hoping the military model is outmoded!

I have been around the industry for quite sometime now, and I would think that there is no fized management technique to use. It really depends on the locality you're in. I have been around the Philippines and I could see no particular style in managing people to get the numbers you need. You really have to quickly adust to their sensitivity and get to know the motivational factors before you could drive and sustain performance.
