Starting up a UK-based call centre

Could anyone point me in the right direction of what the requirements would be to begin starting up an in-house, UK-based contact centre? This would be an inbound centre. I understand that you need to acquire a license, technology/software, telephony system, etc but what would be the 'paper' necessities such as certifications/accreditations, etc?

Many thanks

There is no need to acquire a licence to operate a call centre in the UK.

There are a few pieces of legislation that you will need to deal with
- Register with the data protection agency
- Make sure that you do not call people who have registered with the telephone Preference service.
- Distant selling regulations

There is an introductory article by Dave Appleby called "How to set up a call centre" which takes you through some of the basics.
