The long term future of Erlang

Does anyone think that Erlang has a long term future as a way of resource planning?

It was originally intended in the telecoms world and was dreamed up in 1909 - that's 100 years ago.

Dave Appleby thinks that Fractal Point Processes (FPP) could be the way forward.

I cannot find much that has been published on this (not even a mention on Wikipedia).

So do you see Erlang as being here for the next 100 years or do you see something else replacing it?

Not an area that I am competent in but I found an excellent whitepaper from Verint that is worth reading about Erlang, spreadsheets and multimedia contact centres - "Spreadsheets and Workforce Management: An Odd Couple" by Bill Durr - which can be found at http://verint.com/contact_center/downloads.cfm?files_category_id=85.
(I may even have seen a pointer to it on this site!)

Even for a novice like me, it was easy reading and seemed to make sense!
