Keep in regular contact with people who are off sick

phone-on-stethoscopeIf somebody has phoned in sick, phone them back later in the day to find out how they are getting on.  It shows that you care as a manager, and it is a great technique for reducing absence rates.

It also works well for people who take off a Monday, because of a hangover and then feel they have to take off Tuesday as well to make it look genuine.

I’ve always wanted to do this as a policy, however does this not look like the company are checking up and can be deemed as harassment rather than employer care of duty?
