A big thanks to all the call centres who have sent in details of their plans to support this year’s Comic Relief campaign, taking place on Friday.
becogent are just one of the centres taking calls and pledges and have promised to send in details and photos following the evening’s events.

Staff at Indesit Company’s call centre in Peterborough are getting set for an evening full of fun.
More than 100 members of staff will be manning the phones from 6.30pm until midnight, taking donations for the annual appeal. As part of Comic Relief’s ‘do something funny for money’ theme, Indesit staff will all be ‘wearing something funny for money’, dressing up in bright wigs and themed costumes, as they take thousands of calls from people across the UK wishing to donate to this worthy cause.

Maureen Matheau-Raven, Training and Recruitment Manager at Indesit Company UK, said: “We are all looking forward to a fantastic night of fundraising and taking donations. The call centre staff – and those members of staff that join us from other areas of Indesit Company – all throw themselves into nights such as these and it is a great way to help such a worthwhile charity. We hope to take lots of calls and break our past records!”
Red Nose Day 2007 raised a record-breaking £67,726,409 and they are hoping to beat that again this year.
Glasgow’s customer contact centres are shaping up for this Friday’s Red Nose Day with a little help from the Scottish Rockettes.

The girls made a trip to RESPONSE’s headquarters in Glasgow, one of the customer contact centres across Scotland who will be taking calls on behalf of Comic Relief, to meet staff and help them prepare before the big night.
The lines are manned entirely by volunteers and, with RESPONSE taking donation calls worth more than £90,000 during Red Nose Day 2007, the team look set to be in for a busy night again this year.
This year’s Red Nose Day appeal is asking you to do ‘something funny for money’ and the RESPONSE staff will be no exception. Whilst the focus of the evening will be on collecting pledges and donations the staff will be keeping with the ethos of the night by holding their very own event for the charity.
The Scottish Rockettes will join staff for a Hoe Down themed party, in honour of one of this year’s Comic Relief songs, a cover of country classic ‘Islands in the Stream’, by Gavin and Stacey stars Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones.
Brian Bannatyne, RESPONSE managing director says: “We are delighted with the levels of enthusiasm and support our staff have shown in volunteering to give up their time to support this great campaign.
“We’ll be joining in the spirit of things on the night, with games and prizes to create a fun atmosphere as a thank you to our staff for investing their time.“
Firstsource’s Belfast facility will be one of the contact centres supporting Red Nose Day on Friday March 13th.Over 100 staff will be taking calls during the live TV show on BBC One from 7pm – 1.30 am in a bid to help raise money for Comic Relief’s work with extremely poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa. Staff at Firstsource in Belfast are not only preparing to take thousands of pledges from the public on Red Nose Day, they are also ‘doing something funny for money’ including some of the male staff being sponsored to have their legs waxed or heads shaved.
“As a fairly new contact centre in Belfast, we are proud to be able to offer our services to support Red Nose Day. As we run shifts from 7 am until 11pm it will be quite challenging for us, as we still have to provide support for our telecommunications client and ensure that business as usual is not interrupted, but there is a lot of enthusiasm from our staff and it will be good fun on the night,” commented Sean Canning, Firstource’s UK Operations Director.
Soh have created some funny messages that contact centres everywhere can play over their phone lines to come out in support of RND09, encourage pledges and generate awareness for the fab guys at Comic Relief. The messages will be live on the soh website – available for download – from 4pm on Wednesday 11th March. Just go to http://www.soh.co.uk/events/rnd09
Just to clarify – there’s no catch. The messages are totally free and you won’t be asked to input any contact details or hassled at any stage later from a marketing or sales standpoint. This is just soh doing their bit for Comic Relief.
‘Vertex Voices’ are bringing singing into the workplace to motivate staff, promote team-building and reduce sickness and absenteeism.
Our contact centre is one of ten Cardiff contact centres selected to be trained as a choir to sing the Comic Relief Single “Islands in the Stream”.
The best three choirs will go forward to the grand finale and possible recordings.
Vocal Coaches will be onsite next week to teach them to sing a harmonised version of ‘Islands in the Stream’. The song is this year’s official Comic Relief single, sung by Gavin and Stacey stars Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon, and Twm the Song – Sir Tom Jones.
Companies House’s own five time European and World Champion Line Dancer Daniel Cooper will also be teaching them a basic line dancing routine.
Every choir member will be dressed up and will have to perform in a red nose, as well as raising sponsorship for Comic Relief as they take part.
On Friday March 13th, all the choirs will be brought together in Cardiff city centre, to perform a group rendition of ‘Islands in the Stream’, and announce the total amount of money raised by the challenge.
This is a great way for the staff in our contact centre to have a fantastic time raising money for Comic Relief, as well as having a taste of the benefits singing can bring to the workplace.
The Comic Relief single will be a great song for people to learn, Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon bring a fantastic, Welsh sense of humour to the single, and it’s one everyone knows. Hopefully, Ruth, Rob or even Sir Tom himself will be able to get involved in the final sing-along on the day.
Our contact centre is known for both its support of charity and its sense of fun. This fundraising challenge is an ideal way to combine the two.
