NewVoiceMedia to provide technology to support Elephant Parade

The charity Elephant Family, dedicated to saving Asian elephants from extinction and abuse, is working with NewVoiceMedia to improve the way in which it handles calls from donors.

The NewVoiceMedia Foundation has given Elephant Family free use of its cloud-based telephony solution, as part of its pledge to donate one per cent of NewVoiceMedia’s equity, products and staff time to worthy causes.

It will help the charity gear up for this summer’s Elephant Parade London, which will feature 255 pieces of art that represent life-sized baby elephants. Each will be decorated by designers and artists, such as Lulu Guinness, Sir Paul Smith, Sir Terence Conran and Tommy Hilfiger and auctioned off to the highest bidders. The exhibition aims to raise £2 million for the Asian elephant and benefit 20 UK conservation charities.

The NewVoiceMedia technology will be used to create a bid hotline, manned by Elephant Family staff and volunteers for the duration of the Elephant Parade. Some of those will be office-based and some will work from home; however, the solution offers the same functionality wherever they are located.

“The beauty of the NewVoiceMedia solution is that it’s so easy to use. We have a short period of time to train up our volunteers so they can spend the maximum amount of time manning the phones and helping to bring in those all-important donations,” says Ruth Powys, CEO at Elephant Family.

“The system is also very flexible, so there’s no need for all of our volunteers to be situated in a call centre. They can work for us from home if that’s easier for them.”

“We’re delighted to be involved with such an inspired campaign, and look forward to seeing the elephants in situ this summer,” says Jessica Strachwitz-Hamilton, director of the NewVoiceMedia Foundation.

“We’re proud to be supporting the Elephant Family. As well as providing telephony support, staff will also be joining the Elephant Parade team as volunteers to paint the elephants with an anti-graffiti covering and move them to their temporary homes in the capital,” adds Paul Turner, chief operating officer at NewVoiceMedia.

Further telephony support is being provided by BT, which is supplying 15 telephone lines. NewVoiceMedia’s partner Datasquirt, a supplier of SMS, email and web-chat communications solutions, has given the Elephant Family free use of its SMS-based donation system.
