Novacroft have won the Employer of the Year Award at the National Business Awards 2009 for the Wales, Midlands and East Anglia region.

The trophy was presented to Novacroft at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Thursday 16th July 2009, hosted by BBC Midland’s Sameena Ali-Khan.  As winner of the Wales, Midlands & East Anglia region’s Employer of the Year Award 2009, Novacroft will now go on to be a finalist in the UK-wide national programme later this year.

Novacroft is a Northamptonshire-based organisation designing, developing and managing innovative end-to-end smart card ticketing solutions within the bus and rail industries, from consumer application processing through to the delivery of a product or service.  Novacroft’s clients include Transport for London, the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC), the Scottish Government, Improvement Service and many local authorities.

Alongside the Employer of the Year Award, Novacroft was also shortlisted for the Health, Work & Wellbeing Award for Small Business, and, for the second consecutive year, the Orange Best Use of Technology in Business Award.

Novacroft’s ethos for sustainable growth is people centric, offering clear career development paths, investment into skills and development, an enjoyable working atmosphere and many creative ways to help team members unleash their potential.  Alongside this, healthy living, environmental and community considerations are paramount.  Over the past few years, Novacroft has experienced great business growth as part of its overall business plan, and recently won the East Midlands Development Agency’s High Growth Award 2009.

Novacroft’s Managing Director, Debra Charles, accepted the trophy and is photographed above (centre) with host Sameena Ali-Khan, and Geoff Childs of British Gas.  Debra was thrilled to win the Employer of the Year award:  “A huge thank you to Novacroft’s HR team, and to everyone that recognises that we are nothing without each other.  Indeed, the sum is greater than the individual parts.  I am immensely proud that we have won the regional final.  It validates the reason why I founded Novacroft.”

“Novacroft is a young and innovative business with justified strong ambitions for growth”, said Richard Pearson, Guest Chair of Judges. “The organisation was awarded for its corporate responsibility policy and actions underpinning what is obviously a well-run dynamic business”, Pearson added.

Commenting on the winners, Anthony Keyworth, Director of Products for headline sponsor, Orange, said: “The quality of finalists this year has been outstanding, making many of the judging decisions very close calls. All the winners displayed resilience and determination to succeed in what has undoubtedly been a challenging environment, and it is organisations such as these that will help to stimulate renewed growth in the local economy.  At Orange we know that winning recognition in the National Business Awards is a huge achievement and the success of each winner should be highlighted so that suppliers, partners and customers know that they are dealing with an organisation that is forward thinking and vibrant in its approach to business thinking”.
