Peterlee dignatries open NPower’s new contact centre facility

Cllr Mrs Eunice Huntington, Chairman of Shotton Parish Council and Robert Kyle, the Mayor of Peterlee officially opened npower’s new contact centre facility at the White House Business Park in Peterlee on Tuesday 10th October.

The recent acquisition of the White House building will enable npower to take on an additional 220 employees, not only a major boost for the company but also for Peterlee and the East Durham District.

Julie Jaglowski, head of customer service at npower said: “npower already has a substantial contact centre operation in the North-East and currently employs 2,200 people at its existing contact centre sites in Peterlee, Thornaby and Team Valley. The new building will enable us to take on an additional 220 new customer service advisors, team managers and operation managers.”

Julie continued: “Our expansion plans are by no means a short term fix but are part of a long term investment strategy and commitment to the North-East region.”

The new 15,000 square ft open plan contact centre facility has the capacity to seat 226 members of staff and houses a fully fitted restaurant and canteen.

npower’s expansion plans go hand in hand with its recruitment drive to attract good quality candidates that are looking for long term and rewarding career opportunities.

Julie continued: “In addition to fantastic career opportunities, we offer fixed shift patterns and flexible working so that employees can benefit from an excellent work-life balance. We also actively encourage staff to take vocational qualifications, gain new skills and knowledge via our Learning Resource Centre."

Cllr Mrs Eunice Huntington, Chairman of Shotton Parish Council and Robert Kyle, the Mayor of Peterlee attended a celebratory reception with npower employees and stakeholders which marked the official opening of the White House building.
