Telecoms company BNS has signed a three-year deal to become the main sponsor of Tynedale Rugby Football Club.BNS Group PLC will sponsor the team from the start of the 2009/2010 season and will see its name emblazoned on the shirts of the club’s first team and other senior teams.

BNS chief executive, Garry Moat said: “BNS is a firm that was born in Tynedale. Our HQ is in Prudhoe and many of our employees live in the area.

“As a business, it is important for us to actively engage with the local community. Tynedale Rugby Club runs a number of senior, youth and junior teams and therefore is involved in grass roots development of the sport.

“We are proud to be associated with such an inclusive and successful local team.”

After promotion last year Tynedale RFC has just finished its first season in National League Division 2 in a very healthy fourth place.

Douglas Hamilton, chief executive for Tynedale RFC, said: “There are some obvious parallels between BNS and the team – both successful and important to the local area. We are thrilled to welcome BNS as our new principal sponsor and we look forward to nurturing this relationship over the next few years.”

Garry added: “It is very rewarding to be able to share in the success of local teams and projects. BNS has a longstanding commitment to supporting local groups and organisations through its Community Foundation work.

“We are delighted to support Tynedale RFC and look forward to a successful partnership.”
