Yes agree with the article. However how do you deal with the situation whereby the other dept. usually dictates the flow of the Induction & the inbound team has no say in it.

Excellent advice, and while a slightly different matter; the recruitment process should tie in with the induction programme.

By recruiting in the correct manner - telephone interview, face to face interview with your potential future manager, period of time (at least an hour) in the department you will work, manager contact during the waiting time to start date and maybe even a team lunch - when you step through the doors on your first day, the nerves are no longer there and the psychological contract is already in place.

The recruitment & selection process as well as the induction programme if performed appropriately will reduce short term tenure and if the same principles are maintained throughout each individual's tenure, churn should be minimal.

I think that this is pretty well spot on. The one area that I often think that is missing is the email account and security pass.

Ne starters have often waited for weeks to start the new company but when they arrive they have to wait for a week ort so to get an email account and a security pass.

Without a security pass the new employee is not even able to go to the toilet without getting someone to open the door for them. No a great way to make people feel welcome.

This would be easy to set up in advance - even if it is just a temporary one.
