Request for recording
i was sold an insurance policy that didn't provide the level of cover promised during the verbal conversation at the point of sale. I complained to the financial ombudsman and when they contacted them, the company replied stating they have a recording of the transaction and agree the policy was not miss sold. Can I request they provide me with the recording for me to be the judge as I still believe it to be untrue.

You have a right to access any information held about you
The company cannot withold a copy of any personal information (such as a call recording) that they hold.

In most cases they cannot charge a fee to comply with a subject access request.

There is an article on the Information Commissoners Website that give more details
https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/individual-rights/right-of-access/

I suggest that you contact the company and ask them for a copy of the recording as a "Subject Access Request" under the GDPR regulations.

Please let us know how you get on.
