RESPONSE and Glasgow Warriors are helping children at Scotstoun Primary and Glencryan  School in Cumbernauld to boost their communication and leadership skills as part of an innovative workshop to prepare them for the challenges of secondary school.

The Glasgow-based contact centre, which is the principal sponsor of the Warriors, arranged the workshop for the second year running to share the communication and team-working skills honed on and off the pitch.

The interactive session, which involved the creation of a match programme, was designed to show pupils the importance of communicating effectively, developing leadership qualities and working as part of a team. These skills are an essential part of RESPONSE’s contact centre operations, and have also helped the Glasgow Warriors to a place in the play-off zone of the RaboDirect PRO12 as the race for the end-of-season semi-finals hots up.

Donna Morrison from RESPONSE said: “Building on the popularity of last year’s workshop we were very keen to continue working with different children to help support them in their development. We believe it is vital to integrate ourselves within the local community as much as possible and by getting involved with the pupils at both Scotstoun Primary and Glencryan we hope we’re helping with their progression and skills.

“Having the Warriors on board really helps bring the messages alive in a fun and interactive approach with the children. The players on-pitch training and team motivation techniques combined with our own activity really aims to inspire pupils and give them the confidence to believe in their own potential.”

Tommy Seymour from the Warriors added: “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and showed incredible enthusiasm and put in a lot of effort. We take pleasure in spending time with the children and showing them what it takes to be a successful team player.”
