40% of Managers “Too Busy” for Holidays

A survey of business owners and managers has revealed that 40% are “too busy” to use all of their annual leave.
Additional reasons for not using all of their annual leave included:
- 20% state there isn’t anyone to cover their absence
- 11% don’t trust anyone else to cover their leave
The findings were revealed by the Close Brothers Business Barometer, which gauges the opinion of SME owners and managers from a variety of sectors across the UK and Ireland.
Participants were also asked: “Roughly how much of your holiday entitlement goes to waste each year?”
- 41% lose between 3 and 5 days
- 20% forfeit more than 10 days each year – that’s two full working weeks
Of those that do take their full holiday allowance, 54% said they mainly use it to go abroad and a further 28% spend time away from home in the UK.
Will you be taking all of your annual leave this year?
