GoodPAYE is encouraging more UK contact centres to consider payroll giving as a simpler way for employees to support charities directly through their salary.
The initiative aims to address some of the common challenges associated with traditional workplace fundraising, where collections, raffles and donation drives can require significant administration while charities may miss out on additional value through tax-efficient giving.
Payroll giving allows donations to be deducted from an employee’s gross salary before tax is applied. According to GoodPAYE, this means a basic-rate taxpayer donating £8 per month could provide £10 to their chosen charity at no additional cost to themselves.
GoodPAYE says the process is designed to reduce administration for employers by integrating with existing payroll systems, while also providing employee communications, reporting and engagement support.
The organisation is the UK’s only B Corp-certified, charity-owned payroll giving provider and is owned by charities including Barnardo’s, Crisis, Royal British Legion, RNIB and WaterAid.
Its platform is already used by organisations including John Lewis Partnership, KPMG, Lloyds Banking Group, Royal Mail Group, Virgin Media and Asda.
GoodPAYE believes contact centres are particularly well suited to payroll giving due to their large employee populations and strong team cultures, while also helping organisations support ESG and social value objectives through reporting and employee engagement initiatives.
Sharing their experience of implementing the scheme, Admiral said:
“At Admiral, a large proportion of our colleagues are in customer-facing, call centre roles, so it’s essential that any employee benefit we offer is simple to understand, easy to access and genuinely meaningful.
Working with StC part of GoodPAYE, has enabled us to embed payroll giving in a way that fits seamlessly into our fast-paced environment. The process is straightforward for our people, with clear communication and minimal administration required on our side.
What’s been particularly valuable is how StC supports engagement – helping us bring the benefit to life for colleagues who may not typically have the time or opportunity to explore charitable giving in detail.
As a result, we’ve seen strong participation and a positive response from teams who appreciate having an easy way to give back directly from their salary.
It’s a partnership that delivers both operational ease and meaningful impact, which is exactly what we’re looking for as an employer.”
GoodPAYE says the setup process is free for employers and designed to be completed within days, with employees able to support any registered UK charity through monthly pre-tax donations.
