NewVoiceMedia supports the fight against brain tumours

NewVoiceMedia is increasing its corporate giving through an innovative partnership with The Brain Tumour Charity, formerly known as the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust, to support the charity and raise awareness of brain tumours.

NewVoiceMedia’s charitable activities are encompassed within GivingVoice, allowing every employee two days per year to work on volunteering projects. For this project, members of the NewVoiceMedia team donated their volunteering days to the charity. The task: calling a database to find businesses willing to donate items to be auctioned and raffled off on the evening, to enable the charity to reach their event fundraising target of £150,000.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, with over 8,500 people diagnosed with a primary brain tumour each year. Many brain tumours are not recorded, meaning the figure could be much higher. Of those diagnosed each year, 500 are children and young people, and 25% will die from the disease – equating to one child every three days.

To assist with the calling, NewVoiceMedia provided its cloud-based contact centre technology, ContactWorld, alongside technical expertise from its employees. ContactWorld allowed the team to work remotely by logging in via any web browser, avoiding the inevitable geographical problems that many workforces, including many charity volunteers, face.

We are hoping to raise £150,000 from our Gala Dinner – this money could enable us to invest in three additional research projects to find new treatments for the thousands of people diagnosed with a brain tumour every year.
