Plantronics have announced new, smart wireless headphones.

The BackBeat SENSE headphones combine lightweight materials, Bluetooth battery life, smart sensors and Plantronics audio.

Built-in smart sensors automatically pause music when the headphones are removed, helping to preserve battery life when they’re not being worn.

Intelligent pairing has improved the speed of connecting and moving back and forth between devices, including pairing with two devices simultaneously.

Whispered voice alerts provide important updates on battery life and connection status. The headphones also feature centralised controls in one earcup, while improved battery life allows the user to stream music and media for up to 18 hours on one charge.

The headband is designed to comfortably fit 99% of head sizes and evenly distribute the weight of the headphones, extending wear time by removing the pressure that can cause fatigue and discomfort.

Pillow-soft memory foam ear pads conform to the shape of the listener’s ear, improving audio performance. The headphones’ compact form and fold-flat earcups also make the product comfortable to wear around the neck when not in use.

  • Class 1 Bluetooth allows the user to control up to two connected smartphones or tablets from up to 330ft/100m2 away—the length of a football field.
  • Dual mics enable HD Voice communication for clearer calls or interactions with voice applications such as Siri, Google Now, Cortana and Skype.
  • Using OpenMic technology, the user can touch a button to hear the outside world.
