North East awards open for entries 954 Filed under - Archived Content This year the event is being organised by Sunderland City Council, which has taken over the running of the ceremony to ensure its success and continuity. “The contact centre and call centre industry contribute a huge amount to the region’s economy,” said Paul Watson, leader of Sunderland City Council. “It is really important that their excellent work continues to be recognised.” The ceremony on 22nd November 2013 will comprise ten categories, giving individual employees, teams and companies the chance to showcase their achievements. The competition is set to be fierce, with over 145 call centres (employing more than 160,000 people) being eligible to take part. “The contact centre sector is dynamic and diverse in its portfolio of services and its breadth of employment and career opportunities,” said Therese Liddle, Managing Director of NRG. “As an industry, it has responded to consumer demand by investing in structural and technical changes at a rapid pace over the last ten years.
