8×8 has adopted ISO/IEC 27018, the international standard for safeguarding personal data in public cloud environments.

The certification introduces defined controls for managing personally identifiable information, including access, transparency, and incident response.

According to Darren Remblence, Chief Information Security Officer at 8×8, this step provides organizations with clearer assurances about how their data is managed: “Customers should never have to trade speed or innovation for security.”

The implementation involved reviewing and strengthening data-handling practices across the company’s cloud platform and supports a privacy-by-design approach.

For customers of 8×8, the addition of ISO/IEC 27018 offers reduced compliance risk, faster vendor assessments, greater transparency, and a more resilient privacy framework.

The certification joins 8×8’s existing standards, including ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017, SOC 2, and HIPAA mapping, expanding the company’s established security and governance portfolio.
