Skillsfirst Awards has introduced a new qualification for call centre or customer services staff working with the energy industries.

Green Deal is the new government initiative that has been designed to help business and homeowners integrate green technologies into their properties. These include insulation, draught-proofing, double glazing and renewable energy equipment such as solar panels.

The new qualification will equip those dealing directly with existing and potential customers with an understanding of the principles of the Green Deal and how to introduce energy efficiency measures to customers. Learners completing the qualification will be awarded a Level 1 Award in Introducing Sustainable Energy Efficiency to Potential Customers.

Supporting this qualification, Skillsfirst has also launched Level 1 Award in Promoting Energy Efficiency to Potential Customers. This provides learners with a more in-depth understanding of how to promote energy efficiency measures to potential customers, as well as learning how customer behaviour affects energy consumption. It also covers effective ways of communicating and interacting with customers.

Fraser Ingham, Sales and Marketing Director at Skillsfirst Awards, said: “As the Green Deal is set to impact on the way homeowners address their energy usage and look for ways to reduce consumption and carbon emissions, it is the ideal time for those engaging with potential customers to understand what is on offer under this new programme.”
