Employees from Fusion (part of the BGL Group), travelled to rural Guatemala to meet children living in poverty.

The employees attended the official launches of much-needed BGL-sponsored schools and play centres, built in partnership with global charity, Plan International.

The Guatemalan Ministry for Education and other local dignitaries met with employees during the week-long visit and thanked BGL for funding two purpose-built schools for the under-5s.

Fusion Team Member, Simon Thompson, explained: “There’s no denying that, as breathtakingly beautiful as the nation is, Guatemala is gripped by abject poverty and the majority of youngsters are denied the early-learning opportunities we take for granted for our children in the UK.

“Every teacher and parent we had the privilege to meet was thankful for our help building schools and safe play areas. It’s amazing to see how events back home, like our Dragon Boat Tournament, really do help little ones on the other side of the world get a better start in life.”
