Staff at Spark eCommerce Group have found a fun alternative to walking since partnering with Micro Scooters a year ago.

Micro Scooters Ltd, distributors of a range of scooters, offers free and discounted scooters to Spark’s fulfilment, call centre and office staff to allow them to become familiar with the product and provide useful feedback.

Spark’s Deputy Operations Manager Phil Robertson, who leads the Micro Scooters fulfilment team, said: “The staff absolutely love the products and think they’re great fun. We’ve also found that they’re a benefit to the operation too – they’re especially good for cutting down on travelling time between units, and even around the fulfilment centre when there are no fork-lift trucks in operation.”

Phil, along with other members of staff, has also taken to using a scooter to get to and from work from time to time. He said: “I enjoy scooting to work and back and would definitely say it’s helping me get fitter. I used to walk to work and back to save on travel expenses and to get a bit more active. We have a number of scooters in the fulfilment centre that were provided free by the client, so I thought I’d give it a go and ended up halving my journey time. I manage an average speed of just under 8 mph – you can go slower than that in a car in rush-hour traffic.”

“And of course I do get some funny looks from motorists, but I take it all in good jest.”

Micro Scooters Business Development Director Ben Gibson said: “Our products aren’t just great for kids – we’re always keen to encourage people to leave their cars at home and ‘scoot the commute’, and the team at Spark are really behind that.”
