Wax on, wax off!

Scott Stronach from the Tesco Customer Service Centre in Cardiff recently held a back wax to help raise money for their Charity Partner Diabetes UK.

Scott decided to use drastic tactics to promote the event by subjecting his fellow colleagues in the Customer Service Centre to a picture of his hairy back via email. From that moment on, they were all in agreement…the hairy fuzz had to go!

In the days leading up to the challenge, Scott paraded like a hairy Storm Trooper around the centre, gathering sponsors’ names so they could ‘rip a strip’ on the day. But as the list grew longer, he was slowly beginning to question why his so-called ‘friends’ were so eager to rid him of his back rug! Luckily, it was all for a great cause.

The day of ‘Operation Back Wax’ came and, in keeping with an operation, Scott had to stretch out half-naked on a white table and await agonising pain at the mercy of those around him.

The word of the day was most definitely “ARGGHHHH!!” as people he previously regarded as friends took turns to rip strips of hair off him. But with each strip of agony meaning money in the bucket for Diabetes UK, Scott was man enough for the challenge and soldiered on in the name of charity.

In total, £900 has been pledged by his friends and colleagues for Diabetes UK, a charity particularly close to his heart, as his mum has Type 1 diabetes so he has seen first-hand the impact the condition can have on everyday life.

His poor back is now on the road to recovering nicely!
