Zoom has announced the acquisition of Onyx.
Onyx is an open-source AI platform for enterprise search and knowledge management, to help organisations provide AI agents with relevant business information and context.
Founded in 2023, it connects to more than 50 enterprise applications, including document systems, wikis, ticketing platforms and customer records.
They provide real-time information to employees and AI agents, helping them access organisational knowledge when making decisions or taking action.
The acquisition will bring Onyx into Zoom AI Services, combining its enterprise search and knowledge management capabilities with Zoom’s conversational AI technology.
The aim is to give AI agents access to relevant company policies, documentation, customer history and other internal information before they act.
Zoom said the acquisition supports its focus on “Conversation to Completion” (C2C), connecting conversations with the decisions and actions that follow.
Onyx’s co-founders, Chris Weaver and Yuhong Sun, have joined Zoom. Onyx will continue to operate as a standalone platform and remain open source, model-agnostic, app-agnostic and self-hostable. Zoom said the platform will also gain access to its resources, scale and AI capabilities.
